Ponti, Carlo, 1823?-1893

Italian photographer. Born in Sagno, Italy. From 1840 studied in Paris for five years at the Cauchoix photographic studio. In the early 1850s he opened a photography and optician shop in Venice. He was famous for designing camera lenses. In 1866 was appointed optician and photographer to King Victor-Emmanuel II.
