Born in Hamilton, New Zealand. Graduated from the University of Waikato in 2001. Became a List MP for the Labour Party in 2008, and elected Member of Parliament for Mount Albert in February 2017. Elected Deputy Leader of the Labour Party in March 2017, and Leader of the Labour Party in August 2017.
