Description: Front cover shows a Classically inspired fairhaired woman rising like a spirit from the sea. The border is of ferns. Inside the pamphlet indicates that the book is in preparation, a humorous account of Otago's history with local allusions, parodies of popular songs, upwards of fifty illustrations. Tradesmen are advised that there will be space to promote themselves "making the publication the finest advertising medium ever offered to that enlightened public whose ancestors Napoleon Buonaparte honoured by terming a Nation of Shopkeepers". In light of this, it may be that the proposed publication (which seems never to have been published in this form) was an attack upon certain sections of the population.
