Description: Collection of photographs created and probably taken by Rhoda McWhannell, from the time of her marriage to Frederick McWhannell. The first scene shows them on their honeymoon, at One Tree Hill in Auckland, on 13th November 1922. From there they go to Whangarei, with views of the Whangarei Hospital, men playing tennis, a group of three men and a woman entitled `The foundations of "Fairview" Onerahi', and Whangarei Falls. Following Whangarei are a number of views of Russell, including the jetty and `The Gables', and the yacht `Kitty fraser'. Later in November they reach the Coromandel Peninsula, and photographs include Cyril Cory-Wright in the launch `Eilepa', and a photograph of Mrs Cory-Wright with her children Patsy and Derek; and the Reverend Norrie (minister of the Coromandel Peninsula). The next group of photographs show Mrs Shires, and scenes of sheep mustering at `Oruru', Kaitieke in the King Country. At the front of the album is an envelope with mostly unidentified people, taken much later, most of them being coloured. Also inserted in the album is a newspaper cutting from the Herald (Section 2, Wednesday 13 June 1984), on a young couple (Tony and Sue Clark) who had managed to create a successful farm from very rough hill country on the Kawhautahi Road, near Kaitieke. Description: Family photographs relating to the McCurdie family. Many are groups of friends and family, some of whom are identified with both Christian and surnames. These include wedding photographs of Marjorie Whitton who married J.W. Nicolls on March 31, 1921 at Oamaru, with Betty and Mary Whitton as bridesmaids. Several views of homes include Woodcroft (the home of Dr John Kinder), Werneth (a house at Atawhai, Nelson), The Moorings (the home of W. & Lucy Churchward at Springlands, Blenheim), and Stonycroft (home of Mr & Mrs Free, at Masterton). One view is of snow in Christchurch city in July 1918, and one shows decorations in the interior of Dunedin Hospital for the visit of the Prince of Wales in May 1920. Description: Snapshots of family, friends, and life at Rozel, the farm owned by Frederick and Rhoda McWhannell, near Ohaupo. A few of the people are identified, many only with Christian names. A few have been identified from comparison with other albums in the McWhannell collection. Description: Album of coloured photographs probably taken by Rhoda McWhannell. Most of the scenes are of an unidentified rose garden with a fountain surrounded by sculptured birds, the fountain having water playing indifferent sequences. Includes close-ups of particular roses. Photographs of people include one of Jane Wakefield (nee Geddis) in a blue party dress, and one of Jane, her parents Audrey and Brian Geddis, and her children Brodie and Claudine, both taken in 1987. There is also one image of Brian Geddis with a donkey. Two photographs show Phyllis Cory-Wright, taken when 93 years old, in 1985; and one earlier photograph at the end of the album shows Joan McWhannell and her baby daughter Elspeth, with Rhoda McWhannell, taken circa 1950.
