Scientist, university administrator, painter and poet. Born in India, died while visiting relatives in the Netherlands. He came to New Zealand in 1967 where he met his future wife, artist Gail Gauldie, in Dunedin. He graduated from Otago Univeristy with first class honours in zoology. While on a fellowship in Vancouver he started to paint seriously under the influence of Canadian artist Alan Wood. Exhibition of his paintings at Antipodes Gallery, Wellington, 1985; following the exhibition he was asked to paint the Stations of the Cross for St Andrews Presbyterian Church in Wellington.
