Some prints are labelled on the reverse; some have been marked up as if for publication. There are often several images of the same building or structure from different perspectives. Includes photographs of commercial and residential buildings, bridges, retaining walls, dams, and structures such as mine cyanide tanks, water towers, and gun emplacements. Date range is taken from the few dates annotated on the back of prints or on negative enclosures. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Prints were together with negatives in labelled glassine bags, arranged in largely alphabetical order by name of farm or station, in a small wooden drawer. Description: Comprises photographs relating to Stanley Furniss Laycock's service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and the St John Ambulance Brigade. Includes two group portraits of members of the St John Ambulance Brigade, Wellington, taken circa 1935. One taken by The Domininon shows a large group with the Sir Alfred Robin Memorial Shield. Five individuals have been identified verso, including Laycock himself, who is seated in the front row of the portrait. Other identified people are Ted Gilbert, Keith Ritson, T Shaw, and Lou [Gatston?]. The other portrait, taken by an unidentified photographer, shows six young men, four of whom are in St John Ambulance Brigade uniform. Five of the men are identified verso as Dick [Budland?], Trevor Johnston, Bob Stewart, Doug Wigston, and Keith Ritson. Inscription on verso reads "Possibly Brooklyn, Wellington, 1935". Also includes photographs of RNZAF servicemen staging a funeral for "the spirit" of the No. 2 (G R) Squadron at Ohakea, prior to their departure for the Pacific campaign, taken circa November 1943 by an unidentified photographer. The images portray a burial, funeral procession, and flowers and notes being laid out. All photographs are inscribed verso with dates, location, subjects identified, and other information.
