Description: The papers include diaries, research notes, correspondence and drafts of published work relating to Eiby's scientific work on earthquakes and geophysics, as well as to his numerous other interests including astronomy, theatre, music and film. Included are several unpublished plays and novels. Most material dates from the period after 1950. However there are some earlier papers, including family papers going back to 1856. Description: Diary recording the events of a trip aboard the `Dominion Monarch' from Wellington to England. Diary relates the onboard activities of the author and her male "Cousin E". Includes observances of church services, sports, films and other passengers. The writer appears to be travelling first class and there are some interesting depicitions of shipboard life. The `Dominion Monarch' left Wellington on the 13th March 1952 arriving at Southampton on 16th April 1952. Stopovers at ports along the journey have been diarised. The narration continues with excurisions around the English and Scottish countryside including visits to London, Jersery and Edinburgh. The writer appears to be staying with family members for a large part of the holiday. On 30th October she departs London for New Zealand. Diary ends 5th November 1952 while travelling at sea. Description: These papers contain Andrews' diaries covering the period 1942-1943 while he was filming in the South Pacific (Guadalcanal) for the National Film Unit. Also included is correspondence with family members regarding travel, employment, and health, and other correspondence regarding his work and interests within the Film Industry from various sources, (including government departments, NFU, New Zealand Film Archive). The papers include newspaper clippings on Andrews' work in Guadalcanal, and a copy of his publication called 'Guadalcanal', personal documents such as his British passport, ration books, identity cards during the war years. There is also correspondence to Andrews from a variety of sources regarding his work in education, articles on education by Andrews, and a copy of Andrews' booklet 'How to get pass marks in School Certificate English'.
