Hahn, Greta, 1910-1988, Ost, Greta, 1910-1988

Czechoslovakian cellist; founding member of the National Orchestra. As Greta Hahn she studied the cello in Vienna under Professor Buxbaum of the Arnold Rose Quartet. She and her husband, architect Frederick Ost, left Czechoslovakia for UK after the Nazi occupation. Came to New Zealand 1940. As teacher of the cello, her pupils included Wilfred Simenauer, Vivienne Gordon, Coral Bognuda, Ellen Doyle, and John and Judith Hyatt.
