The folder mainly comprises correspondence written from 1963-1983, sent from de Roo (who signs the letters 'Andy') to Ann Shearer. The letters cover the time while de Roo was living abroad in England in the 1960s, as well as her return to New Zealand in 1973. The letters discuss her life in England and in Palmerston North, daily events, her thoughts and feeling, and updates on mutual friends and family. The letters also discuss her books, plays and other writings, and rehearsals for children's theatre productions of her works. There are frequent mentions of her apartment and housing situations. Description: Each of the four posters is headed with a decorative picture. The names of the shows are: "French without tears!", "Cottages and castles", "Troubadour programme", and a composite one showing both the second and third show. Two of the posters were printed in Auckland, and one show was given at Lewis Eady's Hall, Auckland. The Joan and Betty Rayner Strolling Players appear to have visited New Zealand after their New York tour of 1928, and after the Theatre of Youth closed in Sydney. Using a perpetual calendar, the date Thursday 3rd March mentioned on one NZ poster, would fall in 1932. Quantity: 4 colour photo-mechanical print(s) on posters. Description: Notebooks containing draft of Lost of found or Motherly's luck. A play set in Crewkerne, Somerset written by M E Richmond. Mr & Mrs Motherly are a happy couple with 16 children. Mrs Motherly does not look a day older than her eldest daughter. She has but one fault - she cannot keep a diary and hence or her misfortunes arise. Her eight boys are lost one midsummer night's eve and not being able to find either themselves or their family are forced to become Brownies on the Yeovil Road, Shortly after this sad event Mr Motherly id driven out of England by the conduct of the Suffragettes.
