Description: Colour slide photographs taken by John Reinder Fijn of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II to Waitangi, 6 Feb 1963. Images include the Queen walking around the Treaty Grounds, meeting the Maori Queen Te Atairangikaahu, with kuia and kaumatua (many of whom are wearing kakahu) including [Turi Carroll?], standing in her car and waving to the crowd, outside Te Whare Runanga with Minister of Maori Affairs Ralph Hanan and James Henare, and with the Governor General Bernard Fergusson and unidentified women. Prince Philip is at the Queen's side in all these images. Also includes an image of an unidentified Maori warrior issuing the challenge during a powhiri at Te Tii Marae (with Te Tiriti o Waitangi hall in the background), and various Maori dignitaries hongiing, including Lady Ruti and Sir Eruera Tirikatene, both of whom are wearing a kiwi feather kakahu.
