Description: Photocopies of the letters held by the Alexander Turnbull Library and the Hocken Library, collected by Phil Parkinson, with notes on the location of the originals. Unless otherwise noted the letters are to Edward Bickersteth and Josiah Pratt. Some are transcripts made by Francis Hall and he annotated some of the originals. Pieces are: Tuai to Pratt, 26 June 1818. Titere to Pratt, same date; Titere to Marsden (copy) 12 October; Titere to Pratt, 17 September; Tuai to Pratt, same date; Tuai to Pratt, 20 August; Titere to Pratt, same date; Titere to Bickersteth, 14 December, with Tuai to the same, same date; Titere to Mrs Bickersteth, 18 December; Titere to Bickersteth, 8 January 1819 and Tuai to the same, same date; Tuai to Pratt, July 1819 from Parramatta and Tuai to the same 12 July 1819, same place. Those letters which remained were apparently removed by K A Webster for his own collection and these are now in the Alexander Turnbull Library at MS-Papers-0288, purchased from Webster's estate. Provenance: Most of these letters were removed from the Church Missionary Society Archives by Dr T M Hocken in 1903 during a visit to London and placed in his own collection in Dunedin, Hocken MS 9956.
