Hine-Kiore, active 1830s?

Mother of Puhiwahine from Hinemihi hapū of Ngāti Tūwharetoa, also has links to Ngāti Maniapoto and Toarangatira, a renowned composer and singer, also associated with rituals relating to bird snaring. On the Orangiteihi hills above Oruaiwi, two special bird-snaring trees named Te Ipu-whakatara and Te Ara-mahoe were reserved for her.
