Henshaw, Thomas David, 1939-2014

Artist (watercolours, pen and pencil drawings), cartoonist, author and valuer. Head of the Valuation Department at Hamilton in 1975 and still in 1981. By 2002 running a private valuation practice. (See Art newspaper clippings, volume 1, page 146; volume 17, page 153 and notes given to New Zealand Cartoon Archive in March 2002). He resigned from the valuation practice in 2003, after an accident. Resident in Hamilton. Cartoons have been published in Manawatu Evening Standard, NZ farmer, NZ gardener, Rod and Rifle, Listener, Massey and Lincoln capping magazines and in calendars, etc.). In the 2011 New Year Honours, he was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit, for services as a cartoonist. Died 23 Mar 2014, aged 74 years. Father of Alastair, Susan, Catherine and Matthew. Former husband of Margaret Henshaw (New Zealand herald, 25 Mar 2014, obituaries).
