Description: Photographs of: a new bridge over the railway line at Turakina in the middle distance with the river bridge and the railway bridge also visible; the bridge over the river at Turakina; men shovelling stone from a river bank on to carts running on rails over the river to the highway; jig line of Oreore metalling plant - a man standing at the bottom of inclined rails; a winch and steam traction engine in use on the construction of Turakina bridge; men standing on the new bridge over the railway line at Turakina; and a man standing on the new Turakina river bridge with part of the old one next to it. Description: A-036-028: A view from the north bank of the Whanganui River of the railway bridge at Aramoho, leading into Wanganui township, with a steam train on the bridge. A-036-028: Mangawhero waterfall amidst bush and rocks. A-036-029. A twig of rata in flower. Painted on celluloid mounted by corners on paper backing Some images were mounted out of order when the Library acquired them, hence the numbering 3, 4 and 14 for this group. Possibly produced by Wanganui firm A D Willis and Co. The firm began producing cards, including paintings on celluloid, from 1882. Exhibited in 'Wide-Eyed: Early Images of New Zealand' exhibition of works by settler artists, held at the National Library of New Zealand Gallery, 18 July - 9 November 1997. Description: Transparencies of New Zealand landscapes, buildings, and events, 1958 to 1964. Taken by Ron or Angela Potts or Victor or Phyllis Boivin. Photographs show a railway bridge in the Manawatu, Evans Bay boatsheds, Rimutaka Hill Road, Foxton Beach, Wellington Harbour (ferry terminal and visiting Japanese ships), a cow grazing by Hutt Stream, Wairaki Power Station under construction. and the Savage Memorial at Bastion Point with a view of the Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto Island. Also Māori rock drawings at an unidentified location. Building photographs include the interior and exterior of Old St Pauls, Wellington, and the exterior of Mansion House Kawau Island. The 1963 New Zealand Grand Prix in Pukekohe is also photographed. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Transparencies arrived in no discernable order. Description: There is a hand-written index inside the back cover, headed "A.G. Tibbutt, Victoria Studio, Hamilton, Feb. 14, 1907" and inscribed "To Fred & Mary, Nelson". At the end of the index it reads "Further albumns [sic] on sale". Fourteen photographs taken during construction of the Raurimu Spiral, between 1898 and 1907. The first six photographs include views of the Whanganui River at Taumarunui, the railway bridge over the river at Manunui, a landslip at Oio, and a bush road at Makatote. Photographs relating to the construction of Raurimu Spiral including a group of railway workmen erecting a camp in the bush, and a scene of camp life, tunnel construction, and snow effects at Raurimu.
