Description: Nan Gordon attended St Mary's School Gisborne, starting in primer I at the age of 5 years, in the old brick building in Childers Road and continuing to form IV. Describes teachers, Sr Borgia, Sr Leonie, Sr Dominica and Sr Olga. Mentions head teacher, Sr Catherine who was `staunch'. Recalls having complex about being Maori and explains there were only two Maori pupils in class - other Maori student was Bernadine Waiwatai. Gives details of daily routine in school.
