He passes two unidentified colleagues one of whom remarks that 'dire straits' more likely refers to his short-term policy for New Zealand than the musical group. Two men have noticed the t-shirt and comment that 'Dire Straits' is Lange's view of New Zealand's economy rather than his favourite music group.
