Tustin, Emily Mabel, 1884-1967, Tustin, Tussie, 1884-1967

Wellington photographer. Probably the "Tussie Tustin" who was one of a group of friends who created an album relating to Titahi Bay between 1915 and 1917. The album consists of photographs, poems (by Gladys E Haggett), and water-colour illustrations and silhouettes by Marjorie (Marjory) Mills. (See Ross album, PA1-o-440)

Description: Two studio photographic black and white prints of the Miramar Aces Baseball Club International League. One of the 1940-41 team identified as 'N.Z. Champion Club Team, Winners, Wgtn. Club Championships, & Wgtn. Knock Out Cup' taken by Crown Studios, Cuba Street, Wellington. The other of the 1943-1944 team identified as the 'International League' taken by Mabel Tustin Studio, 30 Courtenay Place, Wellington. Both prints are mounted on card with the names of the team members listed at the bottom of the mount. Two individual portraits of 'missing' members are included on either side of the main photograph with names and title listed below their individual portrait. In both photographs the teams are arranged so that the front row is seated and the second row is standing behind them. They are pictured with various cup and trophies they had been awarded as well as baseball bats and balls. Players of the 1940-1941 team are pictured in their uniforms (excluding the Secretary and President who are in suits) with an award ribbon pinned to their chests. Description: Photographs taken circa 1930s including nine taken by 'Sorrell Photo' (either Charles Sorrell or Percy C Sorrell) showing the effects of 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake, chiefly on buildings in Napier, but also two at Port Ahuriri. Also one taken after the fire, and one of a new shopping area at Clive Square, featuring 'Thorp's for Shoes', built after the quake. Description: An album created by a group of young friends relating to Titahi Bay and Akatarawa between 1915 and 1917. Names listed on page one. The album consists of photographs, poems (by Gladys E Haggett), and silhouettes and water-colour illustrations by M.M. (Marjorie (Marjory) Mills), with Marjorie H Mills' bookplate inside front cover. Most of the images show views taken at Titahi Bay and Akatarawa, and there is a section showing various ships.
