Description: Comprises letters from Archer to family and friends, mainly from Wuvulu Island, Manus District and from Jame Plantation in Buka 1923-1928; report on coastwatching activity, Bougainville, 1941-1943, by W J Read; his Solomon Islands war diaries, 1943; files arranged by Mrs Roberts, Archer's biographer, which contain aspects of Archer's post-war career, including papers on the planters' asscociations in New Guinea and Bougainville. Source of title - Supplied Archer came to New Guinea in 1923 and took over the former Jame Plantation at Buka, one of the ex-German plantations sold to returned soldiers. He served as coastwatcher in Bougainville during World War II and later with the Solomon Islands Defence Force.
