Recreation for soldiers with sporting activities including athletics, cricket, swimming, tennis and softball, some of which are in competition with personnel from other groups including South African Division Artillerymen. Description: Hobbs' diaries cover the period June 1941 to June 1945 and contain a detailed account of his wartime experiences Source of title - Supplied Hobbs sailed from Wellington in June 1941 aboard the `Aquitania'. He saw action in Egypt with 20th Battalion and was captured by German forces at Ruweisat ridge in July 1942. Hobbs was imprisoned at Campo 57 near Udine in Italy until September 1943 when he was transferred to Stalag VIIIA, Gorlitz, Germany.
