Brothers, Joseph Michael Foy (1847-1923) and James Joseph Foy (d 1890) established a successful photographer's business in Thames in 1872. It operated until 1886.

Description: Copy negatives of cartes de visite portraits of Maori taken by various photographers. Includes what may be a page from a photograph album (1/4-030078). The images have been pinned to a board and photographed. A carte de visite exists (PA2-0722) in the collections for the same image as 1/4-030072 although it is not from this negative. 1/4-030073, 031735 and 031736 all have the same lettering on the verso giving photographer's reference number, customer's name and photograph size. It is not known who compiled this collection or who donated them. Arrangement: Negatives housed at 1/4-029461, 030071 to 030079, 031735 to 031736 and 031738. Quantity: 13 b&w original negative(s).
