Description: Contains papers relating to the accounts of the New Zealand Himalayan Expedition of 1951 and the personal finances and accounts of Harold Earle Riddiford, 1951 to 1953. Also some material relating to the 1951 British Mount Everest reconnaissance expedition. There is some correspondence. Includes New Zealand Himalayan Expedition ledger with receipts, invoices, and correspondence tipped in. Loose papers include Bank fo New Zealand statement of accounts, invoices, audit vouchers receipts, international reply coupon, and a cheque book stub. Examples of receipts include from the Badrinath Dispensary, Scott, Aitken & Cox account, receipt of payment for photographs of Mount Everest Reconnaissance from the Royal Geographical Society, an Alpine Sports Depot account, and a receipt from Michel Ober Skiwerkstätte, Sportgeschäft. There are a number of accounts relating to travel expenses. The expenses largely relate to expedition costs but there are some personal receipts, including for Ansell, Fowke Limited Motor Engineers in Wellington from December 1952. Inward correspondence includes letters and telegrams. One telegram is from Stevenson regarding the offer from Shipton for members of the party to join the British Everest expedition. There is also is a letter from Ilford regarding the printing and mounting of photographic prints taken by Riddiford. Title supplied by Library. Arrangement: Material arrived at the Library in box "1" in a clear plastic file with note in pencil describing the contents as "Inventory #9". Loose invoices were folded in a brown paper envelope. Inventory item number nine is described as "Ledger 1951 expenses etc and brown envelope of invoices". Quantity: 1 folder(s).
