Description: Comprises lyrics of the ballad 'Gallant South Sea Sailor' written in Horace Fildes' hand; a typescript story 'At the Rising of Kopu' as told by Mere Ngamai, includes a waiata aroha with translation. The annotations on the envelope this was in states that it was used in 'Legends of the Maori' book [1930-1934]; and notes, typescript and clippings relating to patupaiarehe. The typescript is titled 'Traditions of the King Country' and notes the story was given to Cowan by Te Pou-patate Huihi and Te Huia Raureti at Te Rewatu, on the Puniu River on 13 November 1920. Also includes a clipping of an article for The Times Literary Supplement on 'Fairytales' dated 25 November 1926. Title supplied by Library. Quantity: 1 folder(s).
