Agricultural scientist, scientific administrator. Grassland scientist. With a team of reseachers established research programmes from the late 1920s centered on the Grasslands Division Palmerston North. From these were developed pasture crops and land management practices suitable to New Zealand conditions. In 1925 he married Phyllis (Phyl) Rosa Kate Mason (d 1997).
