Crown Studios (Wellington, N.Z.)

Photographic Studio, Wellington. On Cuba Street, opposite Te Aro House. A photography business of this name on Cuba Street was in existence circa 1916. The business logo can be seen in embossing on photograph PAColl-6304-51 dated circa 1923.

The business was bought by Stanley Polkinghorne Andrew (1879?-1964) circa 1920 who appointed Francis Thompson (1895-1977) as manager. Thompson bought the studio in Oct 1936, and circa 1940 his son, Frank Thompson (1923-2001) entered the business.

The studio took official photographs of the All Blacks for nearly 50 years.

The other of the 1943-1944 team identified as the 'International League' taken by Mabel Tustin Studio, 30 Courtenay Place, Wellington.
