Convent of the Sacred Heart (Wellington, N.Z.)

Roman Catholic College for girls, run by the Society of the Sacred Heart. Founded 1905, closed 1985. Known as Convent of the Sacred Heart, a boarding school for girls until late 1960s, when day girls were included. About this time name changed to Erskine College (Janet Erskine Stuart was Mother-General of the Order, a renowned educationalist of English origin). They date from 1931 to about 1943. Caroline Johnston's father, Harold, was a son of Charles John Johnston of Homewood, Karori, Wellington.
