Description: Photographs from the Ring & Inkster Studio taken from the 1880s to the 1970s. The first group of photographs record the burial of local MP James O'Brien (New Zealand Labour Party), at Greymouth 2 October 1947. Many politicans present including Peter Fraser, Eruera Tirikatene, and Sidney Holland. A small group of prints show Greymouth commercial buildings, in particular the following businesses: New Zealand Insurance; Ross & Glendenning Ltd; C Smith Ltd; Nancarrow & Co, Auctioneers. Four photographs of photographic images displayed with copies of letters record the New Zealand Labour Cabinet and the Executive Committee meeting in the Greymouth Council Chamber in 1960 as part of the Westland Centennial celebrations. A group of photographs relate to the construction of the Arnold River Hydroelectric Power Scheme at Kaimata in 1932. There are two photographs of nurses dressed as comic characters: Pop-eye and West Coast Digger. Other photographs include: a framed relief map of Greymouth Harbour works circa 1920s; Greymouth and Kumara Tramway circa 1880s; view of Greymouth circa 1930s; aerial view of Hokitika from the sea; and modern shelving at Mount Wellington Public Library, Auckland, circa 1970s.
