Description

Digital cartoons by Shaun Yeo on political and social issues in New Zealand and internationally. Published in the Otago Daily Times in May 2021. Cartoons depict:

- an 'NZCU [New Zealand Credit Union] South' figure tossing a single bank note to two elderly people;

- a man lying on the ground while two nearby figures say "It's worse than we thought... he's actually asking for an ambulance!" "You're right. He's delirious. It's quicker to call a taxi!";

- New Zealand First leader Winston Peters emerging from a grave below a headstone labelled 'Here lies NZ First';

- two polar bears looking towards a ute, one says "From what I hear, their days are numbered.";

- New Zealand Olympic weightlifter Laurel Hubbard with the shadows of opposing groups of protestors behind her;

- a kiwi with cricket gear standing atop the Earth, captioned 'Sometimes nice guys... ... finish first.';

- a 'Wellington COVID alert' horse running away from a 'COVID Tracer App' stable;

- a 'Wellington COVID scare' bullet passing behind an 'NZ' kiwi;

- two figures struggling against wind and rain, one says "I could use a little global warming right now.";

- and a COVID scanning barcode which says "Crisis averted!... And just like that... I go back to being Mr Invisible.".
