Crowds at a fair, probably an A&P show at Upper Hutt
All frames were taken at a fair, probably an A&P show at Upper Hutt, in the fairground area. [Location from an advertisement for Tom Croft Motors (of Fergusson Drive, in Ans Westra images in sheet AW-1419.)] Men, women and children, many of them Māori, are seen in the grounds, possibly at Trentham Memorial Park. Young men and a boy are balancing on the narrow top of a wire fence in frames 5 and 6; frame 10 was taken behind an open grandstand looking through the seats at people's legs etc.; and in frame 11 a young man is holding is baby daughter who has a knotted handkerchief on her head, shading her from the sun.
