Description: Programme of events taking place on 19 and 21 July 1919, including ringing of bells, laying of foundation stone for memorial wing of Westland Hospital, turning first sod of Scots' Memorial Church, monster peace procession through the town, addresses at the government building including addresses by organiser and Mayor of Hokitika (G A Perry), several songs by children's choir, address by captain T E Y Seddon, Hon J Grimmond, Hon H L Michel; torchlight procession and fireworks, grand peace concert, smoke concert for soldiers. Description: A notice outlining the ceremony to take place if the armistice has been signed. The text continues: "One hour after the first gun His Excellency the Governor-General will, from the terrace in front of the Parliamentary Library Buildings, formally read the official Despatch and announce the cessation of hostilities." "The public will be admitted to the Parliament Grounds. The library porch and steps and the enclosed terrace will be reserved for Members of both Houses of Parliament and their wives, Naval and Military officers in uniform, the heads of the Departments of the Public Service, the Mayors and Mayoresses of Wellington and of the Suburban Boroughs, City and Borough Councillors, and members of the Harbour Board". "After the Dominion ceremony at the Parliament Buildings the City ceremonies already announced by His Worship the Mayor will be held at the Town Hall. The City ceremony will commence two hours after the first gun." "If the first gun fires before 9 am, the ceremony at the Parliament Buildings will be held at 10.30 am, and the City ceremony at 11.30 am.
