Description

Research papers relating to Ngai Tahu history, particularly from around the Port Hills and Banks Peninsula and two photographic prints. Includes handwritten notes from an interview with Tare Tikao [Teone Taare Tikao] entitled 'Evening at Rapaki' and some hand-drawn sketches of the hills and landscape of Banks Peninsula. Also includes some typewritten drafts for a book about Christchurch and Canterbury including chapters about Akaroa which includes some laments for Onawe composed by Puwai [also spelt Puai] a survivor of the 1832 raid on Onawe pa. Photographic prints are of a family group including a boy on a rocking horse and a photo of a drawing of a Maori village entitled 'Wataputa. Canterbury Plains 1848. Drawn by W Fox Esq.'
