Description

A young bloke sits on the couch, listening to music through his computer. He explains to a woman that he's concerned Huawei might use the internet in New Zealand to snoop for the Chinese government. The woman looks out the window, where the FBI is arresting internet mogul Kim Dotcom, and a Google car is also transmitting signals through their internet service. She says, 'Wouldn't want anything like that going on around here.' Refers to security concerns regarding Chinese telecom company, Huawei. The United States and the Australian government have refused to do business with the company over fears of spying, corruption and links to China's military and government. Huawei does have contracts in New Zealand, including supplying equipment for the government's rural broadband initiative, and the rollout of New Zealand's ultra-fast broadband network.
