Two versions. Context: Mayor Dave Cull questioned the performance of the board of the Otago Rugby Football Union after the council agreed to wipe $480,000 owed to it and Dunedin Venues Management Ltd by the union. Otago Rugby Football Union members Wayne Graham and Laurie Mains are taking legal action against Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull over claims of defamation. (ODT 2 May 2012) Literary reference is Dickens' 'Oliver Twist'.
