Description

Eleven military biplanes lined up on the ground at Sockburn Aerodrome. They include Bristol F2B Fighters, Avro 504K, De Havilland DH.9 and DH.4 airplanes. Plane identifications (where visible) include G-NZAE, G-NZAH (Firefly) and J, in row nearest camera; and E 3137, H.1966, in second row. Row of military officers and officials standing in front of the machines. Possibly relates to the establishment of a permanent NZ Air Force at Sockburn after Henry Wigram signed over the assets of the Canterbury Aviation Company to the government.
