- Description
Watercolour shows the south Wairarapa coast, possibly near Te Kopi looking west from near Cape Palliser, with dwellings and probably a whaling station (Wades Whaling Station? as mentioned in the Wellington Spectator of 1844 - quoted in Mita Carter's "Early Palliser Bay" (1982)) in the centre. Several men stand on the steep hillside at the right. The foreground terrain is covered with low scrub.
