Internal evidence indicates that these papers are part of the correspondence files of Sir Thomas Folwell Buxton. They include correspondence from Mr J Ross to Dr Philip, dated 1831 re expulsion of the Kaffirs from the Kat River District; documents relating to South African affairs, 1833-1836; papers relating to Tasmania, New Zealand, New South Wales and Tahiti.
