Description

Scene with whare, and unidentified group, on a hill above Auckland Harbour, on the "uplands of Kohinimarama [Kohimarama]" (quoted from The Weekly Register of 30 July 1860, see "Maori in Focus" by William Main, 1976, page 9), circa 1860. Shows men of the Imperial forces standing in the centre. An unidentified Maori man, wrapped in a blanket, is crouched in the foreground, with dogs alongside. Photograph taken by John Nicol Crombie.
