Description

Paratene Te Manu, circa 1861, possibly photographed during a conference of Maori chiefs at the Melanesian Mission in Kohimarama, Auckland. He wears a suit and cape, and holds a taiaha (Maori weapon). He has a moko kanohi (Maori facial tattoo). Photograph taken by John Nicol Crombie.
