New Zealand Red Cross album

Album of photographs and memorabilia collected by Miss Helen Iris Crooke when a delegate at the seventeenth International Conference of the Red Cross, held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1948.

Scenes include group portraits of various delegates, portraits of the Chairman of the conference (Count Folke Bernadotte), the chairman of the League of Red Cross Societies (Basil O'Connor), and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (Paul Ruegger). Scenes also include members of the Swedish royal family, the opening ceremony at the Royal Opera House, and scenes in various sections of the Houses of Parliament where most of the meetings were held. Towards the end of the album there are scenes of first aid demonstrations by members of the Swedish Red Cross.

Included in the album is a page containing the full set of Swedish postage stamps of the time, issued and stamped at the Conference post office.
