In the background a disconsolate kiwi sits by the door of the UK Board of Trade after disappointing 'butter talks'. The sporting kiwi hopes that New Zealand will be more successful at the Empire Games.
In the top left corner is affixed a label reading, '"The Evening Post", July 19th...1958'.
