Description

Besides more general matters, the diary records the mental breakdown of a fellow passenger Lizzie, the birth and subsequent death of an illegitimate daughter to a young Irish woman and a measles epidemic resulting in the death of several children. On its arrival at Port Chalmers on 16 Dec 1876 the ship was quarantined for three weeks. The diary ends with her safe arrival in Dunedin
