A diary of an unidentified American soldier travelling on a troop ship, he stops at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, in Wellington New Zealand and then to India. He arrives in Wellington on Christmas day 1942 and describes the food, people and environment of Wellington at the time. During his time in India, he also observes features of the culture. On board the ship he helps to organise a Catholic church service for soldiers.
