Lodge, Nevile Sidney 1918-1989:Courses for Horses - Boycott Hurdles. The Evening Post. 9 June 1980.
- Lodge, Nevile Sidney, 1918-1989; Evening Post (Wellington, N.Z.)
Two runners are running along the stadium track in the 'Boycott Hurdles Event'. One runner, labelled 'NZ Trade' has a pleased smile as he comes up to a very low hurdle 'NZ Government support for Moscow boycott'. The other runner, 'NZ Olympic team' is dismayed by the huge hurdle facing him, also labelled 'NZ Government support for Moscow boycott'. The New Zealand Government's support for boycotting Soviet Russia because of their invasion of Afghanistan impinged more heavily on the sportsmen than the traders. Top left of the cartoon reads 'New Zealand is heading for record trading year with Russia, according to an authority on Russia'.
