Description

The three candidates shown in a open landscape as a bottle, a screw and a dog. J. L. Bacon on the left is the bottle, with the couplet beneath him - Bottle - Fresh if somewhat 'gassy' - my qualities if taken / Now I'm up, Electors, are sure to 'save your bacon'. John Young, as a screw, has the couplet - Screw - Sharp and hard-headed try me! Used to every move and thrust / I'll, if elected screw up 'high-toned Thorndon's Upper Crust'. On the right is Alexander Wilson as a dog with the verse 'The old dog - The Old Dog's slow, but sure, and crochety, but true / He bides his time but acts when aught there is to do.'
