Description

Original caption reads: "L/Bdr J M A Bright (Christchurch) who is attached to dog troop (162 Bat. 16 NZ Fd Regt) observation post as wireless operator sits on the roof of his "Hutchie" under a shell scarred tree that still remains standing on the top of a frequently shelled and mortared feature in the Commonwealth sector. Chinese sniper bullets whistling over the creast on the right is sufficient indication of the distance separating the two front lines. Bdr Wright is wearing combat suit, close fitting armoured vest with zip fastened front and tin hat". Photograph taken 22 December 1952 by a New Zealand Army photographer.
