Selected papers relating to the Acland and Harper families, some of whose members settled in New Zealand and who ran a sheep station at Mount Peel, South Canterbury. There are also selections from the papers of Sir Thomas Dyke Acland, a Member of the British House of Commons from 1812 to 1857, and whose parliamentary and private correspondence holds material related to Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific in general.
