Jetty at Waihinau Bay, Pelorus Sound, Marlborough Sounds
Scene including the jetty at Waihinau Bay, near the settlement of Bulwer, Pelorus Sound, Marborough Sounds. Shows Shag Point right of centre, and Danger Point in the background. The boat taken out of the water for repairs, probably belonged to Patrick McCauley who settled at Pelorus Sound in 1886. Photograph taken by Frederick James Halse in 1889.
Patrick McCauley died in 1912. Members of the McCauley family were still resident in Bulwer in 2006.
All of the area surrounding, and including, Shag Point was known as the Bulwer Scenic Reserve by 2006.
