Description

Photograph taken by Pulman photographic studio in the 1880s, photographer's negative inscription reads: "MAORI CURIOS". Annotations in red ink have also been added to the album page surrounding the photograph.

The image shows of a group of taputapu, Māori utensils and equipment, possibly on display at the Auckland Museum. Includes kō (digging tools), patiti (short handled metal axe), Kakauroa (long handled axe), a woven bag with wooden handles, possibly a kete or kupenga, a wooden kotiate (lobed flat bladed club), and a small carved figure.
