Papers relating to Wilkes' research and protest activites as well as his personal life. Included are papers concerning nuclear and chemical weapons, spy satellites and surveillance bases, and other issues relating to the Pacific and global peace movements. The United States military and intelligence activities in the Pacific, Australia and New Zealand figure prominently.
Arrangement: The original arrangement of the collection into file boxes has been retained. The original number of each box has been placed at the end of the title in brackets.
Wilkes is best known for his research and activist work on matters relating to nuclear weapons, satellite spy stations and other issues relating to the foreign policy of New Zealand and other countries. He was also an archaeologist.
