Description: Tintype photographic portrait of a Māori woman holding a posy, taken circa 1880 by an unidentified photographer. Possibly a member of the Robinson and Kauomo family. This was originally identified as Kauamo, wife of Joseph Robinson, based on inscription on the reverse, but she died in 1846 and is extremely unlikely to have had her photograph taken. Tintype photography was not available in New Zealand in the 1840s. Digitised image is from the b&w copy negative. Inscriptions: Verso - Ka[u?]amu. Description: Studio portrait of a Maori man wearing a taniko bordered cloak. Photographed by an unknown photographer sometime in the 1870s. The cloak in the photograph is now in The Museum of New Zealand, Te Papa, and has the name Kaitaka Aronui. The man is possibly the father of Ihaiah Porutu (1821?-1886).
