Prepared for recording data in this region and appeared in a revised form as maps 1 and 3 in 'Horowhenua' by Adkin in 1948. Has accompanying note signed by Ian Keyes authenticating the map. Description: Map depicts Tararua Range peaks, ridgelines, and rivers. Routes and tracks shown in colour. Some main features named. Map extends from Ngawakarara peak in the north to Kaitoke in the south and Otaki Gorge in the west to Waingawa Freezing works in the east. Francis compiled the map drawing his data from the late Mr H.E. Girdlestone's maps of the Mt Hector-Greytown and the Levin-Masterton routes, and from his own excursions in the Mt Holdsworth and Putara areas. See note on p. 297 in Annals of the Tararuas.
